one question....as zyGrib was already free software, why was it forked instead of contribution? Does not sound that there was a major disagreement with the developer of zyGrib....
and the wish: can you pls stick to the standard name-version scheme (XyGrib-1.0.0) instead of name-Vversion-some_more_stuff ? Makes live easier for automated building...
Thanks!
Hello,
1. zygrib.org started around 2002 and was developped by a single person. He never set up a collaborative environment, which make collaboration a bit complicated.
zygrib belongs to him and he wants to keep it (which seems quite reasonable). So a fork is the way to move on.
2. XyGrib just starts. First release could have a name like XyGrib-0.x.y, but as it starts directly from zyGrib-8.0.1, the version is rather stable. But in the future, names will certainly follow the rules.
